Buon Apps brings you the authentic taste of Italy in the heart of Yorkshire. Serving regional specialities from rustic pasta dishes to sophisticated classic meat dishes; Buon Apps is one of Yorkshire’s best-kept secrets.

For more than ten years, Alessandro and Elena Sofia have been bringing the secrets of their family recipes to guests from across the region and beyond. Using only the freshest, finest ingredients, sourced locally, Alessandro and Elena Sofia lovingly create the dishes from their childhood.

Buon Apps is short for Buon Appetito or ‘Enjoy your meal’. At Buon Apps, we are committed to ensuring that every single guest enjoys their meal – and more!

All our food is freshly cooked, prepared with attention to detail and presented with pride. Our wines are handpicked by Alessandro and Elena Sofia, chosen to be the perfect partners to our food, to complement every dish. Our welcome is genuine, warm and typically Italian; we enjoy meeting new guests, greeting old friends and ensuring your meal exceeds all expectations.

At Buon Apps we are truly passionate about creating the very best food by using the finest locally sourced ingredients. Not only does it tastes better it means we are doing our little bit for the environment. This ethical approach is something we really believe in and you can see it in action across everything we do at Buon Apps.

Responsible sourcing and recycling

Local sourcing of ingredients and thereby reducing air miles is just one aspect of our social and environmental action and policy. We have also implemented recycling methods for cooking oil (it is converted to bio-diesel), bottles, paper, packaging and food waste and we conscientiously source fair trade products and sustainable fish. 

We frequently strive to improve our operations and responsibilities including the use of renewable energy.

Who We Are?

Alessandro and Elena Sofia met soon after Alessandro landed in the UK and have worked hard over the last ten years to bring their Italian heritage and passion for food to Otley. Together Alessandro, Elena Sofia and their dedicated staff make Buon Apps a great place to enjoy the real taste of Italy!

Alessandro was born in Rome, where his mother and father ran a bar restaurant for 45 years. Their passion for people and cooking rubbed off on to Alessandro who worked in their restaurant from an early age, learning how to cook the regional dishes that he creates so successfully today.

Elena Sofia grew up in a small village in Leicestershire where her Italian father cooked up the Italian dishes reminiscent from his childhood in Rome. Growing up in a large family and taking long holidays in Italy introduced her to the delights of the Italian cuisine and culture and have certainly left their mark.
